Matt Snyder, candidate for Carmel City Council At-Large, has lived in Carmel for nearly his entire life, graduating Carmel High School and returning to the area after college to start a family.

He’s been dedicated to giving back to the community he loves. He was first elected to the Carmel Clay Township Board in 2010 when he was only 27 years old. He’s now serving his fourth term in office, and he recently shepherded $60 million in new investment in parks, public safety and infrastructure, through the Clay Township Impact Program.

“Since being on the Township Board, Clay Township has done more and has been more active than any other township in the State,” Snyder said. “Our Clay Township Impact Program has redefined how people look at Township Government around the country. Now I want to take that same innovative thinking and understanding of government to the Carmel City Council, so I can continue to serve the city I love.”

The Township Impact program, led by Snyder, helped completely transform several parks in Carmel, including West Park, Flowing Well Park, Meadowlark Park, Carey Grove Park and River Heritage Park. It also helped expand the city’s Japanese Gardens, construct a new Fire Department headquarters and expand the facilities for Carmel Dads’ Club.

Snyder said it’s all part of his record of keeping his promises to taxpayers.

“I have accomplished everything I have promised and said I was going to do and led the way on many more,” Snyder said.

In addition to his many years of service on the Clay Township Board, Snyder works as an engineering consultant, giving him intimate knowledge of how to build a city properly. He also served as president of the board for Janus Developmental Services, a nonprofit which helps those with disabilities in Hamilton County. He’s also a past president of the Carmel Clay GOP Club.

“I have the drive and determination to actually get things done and the capital improvements made over the last four years certainly back that up,” Snyder said. “I have the needed understanding of municipal finance to move projects forward for our community. I have the knowledge of infrastructure, planning, and implementation needed to keep Carmel the greatest communities in the country.”

Snyder lives in east Carmel with his wife Ashlee and their two children, Charlie and Benjamin.

“Aside from my family and faith, serving our community has been the most important thing I have ever put my heart and soul into,” Snyder said. “I have been so privileged to serve every individual in this community. I have spent my life in Carmel. I was born here, went through and graduated from Carmel Schools here, married my wife Ashlee here, and we are raising our two young children here. I have seen the immensity of the changes in our community over the past 40 years and I love where we have gotten. I also have the unique insight of understanding the foundations laid in the past that helped get us to our present position as a community. We do live in the greatest community, and I want to continue to serve our community on the Carmel City Council.”
